For many of us, our pets are our best friends, constant companions and valued members of the family. Rather than "just a pet," they are our fur-kids. Losing them can be extremely painful and may affect us emotionally and physically (and very often, spiritually). When suffering a loss, we might encounter a lot of strong emotions and issues such as:
- Deep sadness
- Feelings of guilt or self-blame
- Anger
- Irritability
- Difficulty concentrating
- Forgetfulness and confusion
- Difficulty sleeping
- Extreme fatigue
- Lack of appetite
- Reduced interest in activities
- Physical pain
...and more. These feelings can be very difficult to navigate, especially when friends, family or co-workers don't understand. However, please know that all of your feelings are valid and a normal part of grieving the loss of a much-loved best friend and companion.

"Harold" The little guinea pig who taught me that love is truly forever, and death is not the end. |
Whether your pet was a dog, cat, horse, bird, guinea pig, fish or any other living creature, the love you had for your pet was very real, and so is the pain of that loss. Read more about pet loss grief here.
Who Needs Pet Bereavement Support?
Anyone who is grieving the loss of a beloved pet deserves to have the support and resources they need in order to work through the loss. Seeking help is not a sign of weakness; in fact, recognizing the need for extra support during grief can be a very strong, positive step in this journey.
How I Can Help
I offer affordable, individual pet loss support sessions which are available virtually via Zoom for adult pet parents (21 years of age or older) who would like one-on-one grief support. These sessions encourage the grieving pet parent to tell their story and explore ways to help navigate through some of the many difficult emotions that are a natural part losing a beloved animal companion. The goal is to find strategies that can help facilitate reconciliation and healing.
What to Expect
- The cost is $40 per 60-minute session or $25 for a 30-minute "mini" session. All fees are non-refundable.
- Seniors (age 65+) are eligible for a discounted rate of $30 per 60-minute session.
- Pet loss sessions can be booked directly on my website or through the Petworks platform.
- All support sessions are strictly confidential.
- The session will provide a safe, non-judgmental space in which you can share what you are experiencing and feel supported as you work through your loss.
- Sessions are held via Zoom. It is recommended that you test your internet connection beforehand, and make sure you have a quiet area where can talk freely and will not be interrupted.
- Each session includes any digital materials that may be helpful to you, as well as access to my digital library of pet loss materials.
- Established clients are invited to submit a Pet Tribute at no cost.
