For many of us, our pets are our best friends, constant companions and valued members of the family. Rather than "just a pet," they are our fur-kids. Losing them can be extremely painful and may affect us emotionally and physically (and very often, spiritually). When suffering a loss, we might encounter a lot of strong emotions and issues such as:
- Deep sadness
- Feelings of guilt or self-blame
- Anger
- Irritability
- Difficulty concentrating
- Forgetfulness and confusion
- Difficulty sleeping
- Extreme fatigue
- Lack of appetite
- Reduced interest in activities
- Physical pain
...and more. These feelings can be very difficult to navigate, especially when friends, family or co-workers don't understand. However, please know that all of your feelings are valid and a normal part of grieving the loss of a much-loved best friend and companion.

Whether your pet was a dog, cat, horse, bird, guinea pig, fish or any other living creature, the love you had for your pet was very real, and so is the pain of that loss. Read more about pet loss grief here.
Who Needs Pet Bereavement Support?
Anyone who is grieving the loss of a beloved pet deserves to have the support and resources they need in order to work through the loss. Seeking help is not a sign of weakness; in fact, recognizing the need for extra support during grief can be a very strong, positive step in this journey.
How I Can Help
Individual Support Sessions
I offer affordable individual pet loss support sessions which are available virtually via Zoom for adult pet parents (21 years of age or older) who would like one-on-one grief support. These sessions encourage the grieving pet parent to tell their story and explore ways to help navigate through some of the many difficult emotions that are a natural part losing a beloved animal companion. Sessions provide a safe, non-judgmental space in which you can share what you are experiencing and feel supported as you work through your loss. The goal is to find strategies that can help facilitate coping and healing. Learn more here.
Books & Resources
My focus is on providing you with tools that you can use as you sort through the many tough feelings and sensations that are a natural part of the grieving process. I have written a collection of pet loss booklets that may be helpful guides as you grieve the loss of your pet and begin to gradually move toward a place of healing.
